Hi there!
We’re Joseph and Erin Greek, and we’re a family on a gardening mission. We have a wonderful daughter, “M” (who we hope will grow up to enjoy gardening as much as we do), and three pesky cats, Chloe, Kitty Baby, and Fry.
We started our first big garden in 2020, and with the pandemic raging, we created a little safe haven in our backyard. The year before, we planted a few plants in containers and decided that we wanted to make a larger garden for ourselves the next year. Although it was a lot of hard work, we found our gardening experience to be calming and rewarding. We learned so much by watching our plants grow, thrive, whither, get eaten by animals, and eventually die either because of the cold, or because they weren’t cared for properly. We find that gardening is a learning lesson each year, and there is so much to learn!
Erin’s favorite garden veggies are tomatoes, carrots, squash, and corn! She is the woman behind the shears and clippers, keeping the Greek’s plants in tip top shape. She also enjoys finding new recipes for preserving food from the garden, canning, baking from scratch, taking care of the worm bin, and watching the flowers bloom throughout the year.
Joseph’s favorite garden veggies are jalapeños, squash, carrots, and corn! He is the man behind the tiller, and is always thinking about better ways to expand the garden, start seeds, and organize the garden layout. He also enjoys finding new varieties of plants to grow in the garden, cooking, and arranging his Zen garden beneath the dogwood tree.
Creating our backyard garden oasis is just one of our many hobbies. We also enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, like hiking, backpacking, and kayaking!
